Zippy is our pet star for April. She came into the surgery after her owner noticed that she was limping, on examination the vet thought a possible road traffic accident had been the cause and suspected a fractured left leg.
X-rays confirmed that Zippy had fractured her left leg and the decision was made to go ahead and repair the fracture using internal pins to stabilise the bone and help it to heal in the correct way.
Zippy recovered well from the surgery and was soon up and about trying to get full use from her leg, this meant that she needed to be kept on strict cage rest 4 weeks to avoid any damage occurring to the healing bone.
Zippy’s leg has now healed well and she is loving her freedom again, although she will need to undergo more surgery to remove the pin.
